This year, we celebrate the Fine Arts Work Center’s 50th Anniversary with an extraordinary summer of workshops, exhibitions, and events. DIVE DEEP INTO NONFICTION Transform real life experiences into art. Join us for Creative Nonfiction Week, an invigorating intensive featuring a keynote by Michael Cunningham, an outstanding faculty of writers and artists: Alysia Abbott, Garrard Conley, Maria Flook, David Hilliard, Pam Houston, Jennifer Melby, Deborah Miranda, Gregory Pardlo, James Everett Stanley, & a benefit concert by Jonatha Brooke.

WRITERS & ARTISTS AS ACTIVISTS A week dedicated to social activism, featuring a remarkable faculty of writers and artists whose work focuses on the environment, climate change, gun violence, racial violence, police brutality, violence against women, homophobia, and immigration, all through the lens of creative action. The week includes an exhibition by special guest Ai Weiwei, as well as a conversation and screening of Human Flow; keynote presentation by Masha Gessen, and weeklong workshops from Martha Collins, Alison Hawthorne Deming, Lauren Ewing, Daniel Heyman, Michael Patrick MacDonald, Marcus Wicker, Lacy M. Johnson, Sarah Schulman, & Aja Monet.

3rd ANNUAL POETRY FESTIVAL Phenomenally popular, the Festival expands to include a keynote from Ross Gay; workshops taught by Cornelius Eady, Traci Brimhall, Nick Flynn, Vievee Francis, Ross Gay, Rebecca Gayle Howell, Patty Larkin, & Patrick Rosal; Favorite Poem Project Evening with Robert Pinsky & Friends; and concerts by Patty Larkin, Cornelius Eady Trio, & Shaker/Flynn.

5 ARTISTS, 5 DAYS Explore the art of drawing and painting the figure with five of Provincetown’s most esteemed artists, and enjoy a panel discussion with all faculty on the Art of the Figure.

The transcendent LYRIC SERIES presents six concerts, featuring the unique voices of musicians and poets who create revelatory work. Our acclaimed MASTER PRINTER SERIES continues in the Michael Mazur Print studio, a state-of-the-art facility, with exciting new faculty and returning favorites.

The Work Center will be electric with nightly readings and talks by our distinguished faculty. With 24-hour studio access, you’ll be free to create any time you like. Enjoy daily breakfasts in the lounge, receptions, mid-week BBQ, and our beloved student open studios & readings.

All summer workshops are held on the campus of the Fine Arts Work Center, located in the heart of Provincetown on the tip of Cape Cod, surrounded by 40 miles of pristine national seashore.  As the nation’s oldest continuous art colony, Provincetown’s streets are lined with art galleries, museums, and performing arts spaces providing an array of cultural happenings.
