2022 Summer Workshops

Linda Bond Figure Drawing: Inside & Out July 5 to July 10, 2020 Tuition: $650 Workshop: 9am-12pm Discipline: Drawing OPEN TO ALL On-site Housing NOT Available - Off-site Housing Options

In this week-long class, we will explore the interaction of structure, design, motion and expression in the human form by studying both the outer appearance and the inner anatomy of the body. In addition to improving visual language skills, drawing the human figure from observation helps to nurture states of concentration and focus, giving us a “time out” from a more distracted daily life. Working from the model and skeleton, we will balance traditional representational techniques with expressive, personal approaches to drawing the figure.

“During the intense periods of concentration required by drawing, thoughts unrelated to the activity temporarily disappear. By transferring your total attention to another human being in an attempt to comprehend the uniqueness of the living form, you can experience a pleasurable release from self. This kind of satisfaction is a delightful side effect of the process of drawing.” William A Berry, Drawing from the Human
