2022 Summer Workshops
This course is for writers of poetry who have a manuscript—be that a collection of individual poems; a book of poems that depend on each other to tell a story; or a hybrid work that breaks genre—and are working to push it into a finished state. Our community will work alongside you in an intensive, respectful way, as together we edit one or two manuscripts every day. We will also read intensively and study groundbreaking published books as guides. Be prepared to read, annotate, discuss, be neighborly, and kill your beautiful darlings.
Rebecca Gayle Howell's most recent book is American Purgatory, which was selected by Don Share for the 2016 Sexton Prize and named a must-read collection by both The Millions and the Courier-Journal. Howell's honors include fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center and the Carson McCullers Center, as well as a Pushcart Prize. Since 2014, she has edited poetry for the Oxford American.
