Imagination and Music: A Poetry Workshop
In this one-session, generative workshop, we’ll use the music of syllables, words, sentences and lines to guide imaginations, helping to compose poems in class. You’ll have the option of sharing your impromptu composition aloud with the group. I invite everyone to bring one copy, to read aloud, of a poem (not by yourself) that you love for the way it sounds when you imagine saying it or actually say it. Nursery rhymes, etc., welcome. Please note: No tuition discounts are available for this workshop.
ROBERT PINSKY’s most recent book of poems is At the Foundling Hospital. As U.S. Poet Laureate, he founded the Favorite Poem Project, with the videos at www.favoritepoem.org and an annual July institute for K-12 educators, at BU, where he teaches in the MFA program.
