The Fine Arts Work Center is the steward of historically significant artist live-work space in the heart of Provincetown, the nation’s most enduring artist community.

Leadership support in commemoration of our 50th anniversary allowed the Work Center to invest in a major transformation of our facilities. Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of supporters, we completed Phase One of a long-term plan to make the Work Center more accessible, welcoming, and environmentally sustainable. 

Together, we built on the legacy of our past and reimagined how our spaces and facilities can best support creativity and collaboration in our future.

Phase One highlights includes:

• The transformation of public-facing spaces to create an accessible and welcoming programming hub, all centered around a central courtyard 
• $450,000 in capital funding invested in green initiatives, including new solar program
• $150,000 dedicated to make the Work Center more accessible to individuals with disabilities, as we return to in-person programming
• Major infrastructure and technology improvements, including the installation of a state-of-the-art audiovisual system to engage both in-person and virtual audiences
• Architectural improvements thoughtfully designed by award-winning, global partners such as Flansburgh Architects with quality renovation led by Cape Associates

Looking forward, we now seek to build on this momentum and continue major capital improvements at 24 Pearl Street and beyond.

Investments in the next phase of capital improvements at the Fine Arts Work Center will preserve and protect for future generations of artists and writers.

• The revitalization of Work Center landscaping, using native plantings designed by leading landscape architect LeBlanc Jones
• The renovation of the Fellows Lounge, an important community gathering space 
• Continued investment in improving live-work spaces, including the historic apartments and studios at 4 Brewster Street
