About FAWC Online
Listening, Learning, Evolving
In late 2024, we initiated a comprehensive listening process, comprising dozens of conversations, focus groups, and surveys with our community of artists and writers. Your insights have shaped a thoughtful reimagining of FAWC Online, one that honors our commitment to artistic excellence while expanding access and opportunity.
Our Commitment to Access
At the Fine Arts Work Center, we believe that exceptional artistic education should be available to all serious practitioners. FAWC Online reflects this commitment through multiple pathways to participation:
Flexible Investment Options
- Tiered Pricing: Every paid offering includes multiple price points to accommodate diverse financial circumstances
- Reduced Workshop Fees: Streamlined pricing across all programming
- Creative Community Groups: Ongoing support for your practice at accessible rates
Partnership Programs
- Card to Culture: 50% discount for EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare cardholders through our partnership with Mass Cultural Council and Mass. Department of Transitional Assistance
- FAWC Scholar Awards: Scholarships available for all paid offerings, supported by valued partners including Cave Canem, Institute for American Indian Arts, Kundiman, Zoeglossia, and Lambda Literary
Community Engagement
- Free Events: Regular readings, artist talks, panel discussions, and community gatherings
- Open Programming: Student open mics, submit-a-thons, and faculty presentations

Expanding Creative Disciplines
While FAWC has long been known for nurturing writers, we’re deepening our commitment to visual artists through expanded online opportunities that honor the full spectrum of creative practice represented in our Fellowship program.
Dual-Track Learning
We recognize that artistic growth and professional development require different skill sets. FAWC Online addresses both through programming that strengthens creative practice while building the professional knowledge essential for sustainable artistic careers.
Looking Ahead: FAWC Academy
This fall, we’ll launch our first step toward sequenced learning experiences with a 9-month Memoir intensive led by beloved faculty member Susanna Sonnenberg, culminating in an in-person week at FAWC in May 2026. This pilot program represents our exploration of structured, long-term creative development opportunities.
Join Our Community
Whether you’re beginning your creative journey or deepening an established practice, FAWC Online offers pathways for growth, connection, and artistic excellence.
