FAWC Online: Create from Anywhere

FAWC Online is where you’ll find online resources of all kinds that will help you deepen your craft, expand your creative horizons, and plug you into an international community of artists and writers. With FAWC Online, you really can create from anywhere!

Listening, Learning, Evolving

In late 2024, we initiated a comprehensive listening process, comprising dozens of conversations, focus groups, and surveys with our community of artists and writers. Your insights have shaped a thorough reimagining of what we offer online, one that honors our commitment to artistic excellence while expanding access and opportunity.

Expanding Creative Disciplines

While FAWC’s online programming has long been known for nurturing writers, we’re deepening our commitment to visual artists through expanded online opportunities that honor the full spectrum of creative practice represented in our Fellowship program.

Dual-Track Learning

We recognize that artistic growth and professional development require different skill sets. FAWC Online addresses both through programming that strengthens creative practice while building the professional knowledge essential for sustainable artistic careers.

In-depth Learning

Last fall, we launched our first 9-month workshops with a Memoir workshop led by Susanna Sonnenberg, culminating in an in-person week at FAWC in May 2026. We also offered a 9-month visual arts workshop with Pete Hocking. Both workshops have been huge hits. Look at what Susanna’s students are saying:

“Working on a memoir manuscript for nine months was a big, somewhat scary, commitment, and I was hesitant. Susanna made it worth every challenge, setting a tone that respected craft, voice, and story.”

                                                                                                    –Ryn Hodes, student

“It’s been a great experience being part of Susanna Sonnenberg’s Groundwork class… I highly recommend the class for people who are serious about memoir writing.”

                                                                                                    –Susan Wefald, student

We’re planning to expand our 9-month offerings in the months to come. Keep an eye on our catalog to learn about upcoming opportunities.
