Pillar 1: Serving Artists and Writers
Goal
To ensure that creativity and innovation thrive by building on the Fine Art Work Center’s legacy as an institution in which artists and writers are responsible for core aspects of decision-making and programming.
Objectives
1.1 Create a generative, healthy, and inclusive fellowship or workshop experience
1.2 Develop more opportunities for artists and writers at various stages of individual
creative development to participate in Work Center programs
1.3 Commit to equitable compensation for fellows and faculty; evaluate and increase
fellowship and faculty stipends
1.4 Increase the participation of a diverse range of artists and writers as staff,
trustees, faculty, and committee members; evaluate and measure our progress in
increasing diversity in all areas
1.5 Cultivate multi-generational leadership of the organization and invite participation
in leadership from the next generation of Fellows
Progress
In an effort to increase participation by historically disinvested and underrepresented artists and writers, The Fine Arts Work Center’s Scholars Award program aims to increase accessibility to young people and people of color through competitive scholarships covering tuition, housing, and transportation costs for our Summer Workshop and 24PearlStreet online writing programs.
