About the Workshop
Memoir is first person history that doesn’t have to start at the beginning. In fact, it’s often best not to. In this generative workshop, participants will read and discuss contemporary and classic essays, lyric works, and memoir excerpts and respond to writing prompts that help you mine your current experiences–often the most fresh and visceral–to discover fresh connections to the stories you’re trying to tell–stories that may span decades or even generations. We’ll spend time discussing craft and sharing work, and make time for self care. Whether you’re writing a longer project, working on crafting new work, or new to the genre, this workshop is for you.
