About the Workshop
Participants in this session will build community through the process of printmaking and be introduced to publishing a print edition in a collaborative studio environment through a portfolio print exchange. So, how do we build a supportive art studio experience that allows each artist to create a print edition and collaborate with others to complete their own prints? Setting responsibilities, establishing studio etiquette, and maintaining a communal studio set are essential. Experimentation and a growth mindset will help inspire your work to ensure it achieves your desired outcomes. In this workshop, students will be guided through the the basics of printmaking techniques along with brainstorming, sketching, transferring images to block, carving, and printing to create a print. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to take home a portfolio where a single print from their edition will be a part of a print exchange. Each participant will need to bring or purchase a sketchbook and begin to brainstorm ideas before the start of the session. All other supplies will be provided.
