Miriam Klein Stahl is a Bay Area artist, educator, and activist and the New York Times-bestselling illustrator of Rad American Women A-Z and Rad Women Worldwide. As an artist, she follows in a tradition of making socially relevant work, creating portraits of political activists, misfits, radicals and radical movements. In addition to her work in printmaking, drawing, sculpture, paper-cut and public art, she is also the co-founder of the Arts and Humanities Academy at Berkeley High School where she has taught since 1995. She lives in Berkeley, California with her wife, daughter, and poodle Odie.

Carmen Maria Machado is the author of the bestselling memoir In the Dream House, the graphic novel The Low, Low Woods, and the award-winning short story collection Her Body and Other Parties. She has been a finalist for the National Book Award and the winner of the Bard Fiction Prize, the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Fiction, the Lambda Literary Award for LGBTQ Nonfiction, the Brooklyn Public Library Literature Prize, the Shirley Jackson Award, and the National Book Critics Circle’s John Leonard Prize. In 2018, the New York Times listed Her Body and Other Parties as a member of “The New Vanguard,” one of “15 remarkable books by women that are shaping the way we read and write fiction in the 21st century.” Her essays, fiction, and criticism have appeared in the New Yorker, the New York TimesGrantaVogueThis American LifeHarper’s BazaarTin HouseMcSweeney’s Quarterly ConcernThe BelieverGuernicaBest American Science Fiction & FantasyBest American Nonrequired Reading, and elsewhere. She is the former Abrams Artist-in-Residence at the University of Pennsylvania.

All readings and artist talks are held in the Stanley Kunitz Common Room, unless otherwise noted. Our annual summer exhibition, Edge Condition, is on view June 6 through August 22, 2024 in our Hudson D. Walker Gallery. Both venues are located at 24 Pearl Street in Provincetown.

Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 AM-5 PM

Parking is restricted to students and faculty staying on site
