Reading and Artist Talk: Jessica Jacobs, Pete Hocking and Paul Bowen

Join us for a summer faculty reading with writer Jessica Jacobs, and artists Pete Hocking & Paul Bowen.  

Jessica Jacobs is the author of Take Me with You, Wherever You’re Going, winner of the Devil’s Kitchen and Goldie Awards, and Pelvis with Distance, winner of the New Mexico Book Award and a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award. Chapbook Editor for Beloit Poetry Journal, she co-authored Write It! 100 Poetry Prompts to Inspire with her wife Nickole Brown. Her collection in conversation with Genesis will be out from Four Way Books in 2024.

 

Pete Hocking is a visual artist and writer based on Cape Cod. In addition to being represented by Four Eleven Gallery in Provincetown, he’s recently shown with the Chazan Gallery in Providence RI, The Dorado Project in Jersey City NJ, the Plough Gallery in Tifton GA, and at VeeVee in Boston MA. In May 2019 he was Artist in Residence at the Hawthorne Barn with Twenty Summers. He teaches at Rhode Island School of Design. From 2003-2021 he was full-time faculty in Goddard College’s Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts. He is a founding board member of The Provincetown Commons, a center for the arts and creative economy.

 

Paul Bowen came to Provincetown from Wales and lived there for three decades. A Vermont resident, he constructs found wood sculptures and draws with various media, such as inks made from walnuts, squid, and toner. His work is in many collections, including The Guggenheim Museum, New York; The MFA, Boston; and The Walker Art Center, Minneapolis. His work is represented by the Albert Merola Gallery in Provincetown, Pulp in Holyoke, MA, and Tayloe Piggott Gallery in Jackson Hole, WY.

All readings and artist talks are held in the Stanley Kunitz Common Room, unless otherwise noted. Our annual summer exhibition, Density’s Glitch,  is on view through August 28, 2022 in our Hudson D. Walker Gallery. Both venues are located at 24 Pearl Street in Provincetown.

Gallery Hours: Monday – Thursday, 11 AM – 3 PM / Friday and Saturday, Noon – 5 PM

We require all students, faculty, staff, and guests to wear a mask when indoors at the Work Center.



The Stanley Kunitz Common Room and the Hudson D. Walker Gallery are accessible facilities in compliance with ADA guidelines.
