Join us for a 24PearlStreet faculty reading with Leila Chatti, Joan Kwon Glass, Reif Larsen, Cleyvis Natera, Melissa Studdard, and Erika Wurth.
Welcome to another whirl with wild words happening on September 15th at 6pm (EST). Join us as we celebrate our 24PearlStreet Fall Session faculty and their wonderful writing.
Leila Chatti is a Tunisian-American poet and author of Deluge (Copper Canyon Press, 2020), winner of the 2021 Levis Reading Prize, the 2021 Luschei Prize for African Poetry, and long-listed for the 2021 PEN Open Book Award. Her honors include multiple Pushcart Prizes, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. Her poems appear in The New York Times Magazine, The Nation, The Atlantic, and POETRY. She currently teaches at Smith College.
Joan Kwon Glass is the author of NIGHT SWIM as well as three chapbooks. She is the Editor-in-Chief for Harbor Review and is a public school educator for 20 years. Joan’s poems have been published or are forthcoming in Prairie Schooner, RHINO, Rattle, The Rupture, Dialogist and elsewhere.
Reif Larsen is the author of the novels I Am Radar and The Selected Works Of T.S. Spivet, which was a New York Times Bestseller and adapted for the screen by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amélie). He has a children’s book, Uma Wimple Charts Her House, coming out in May. Larsen’s essays and fiction have appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, GQ, Tin House, McSweeney’s, Travel & Leisure, one story, The Millions, and The Believer. He recently founded The Future of Small Cities Institute.
Cleyvis Natera’s debut novel is Neruda on the Park. She has received honors from PEN America, Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Voices of Our Nation Arts Foundation (VONA). Her fiction, essays and criticism have appeared in The New York Times Book Review, Alien Nation: 36 True Tales of Immigration, TIME, The Brooklyn Rail, The Rumpus, The Washington Post, The Kenyon Review, and Kweli Journal. She teaches creative writing in New York at the graduate and undergraduate level.
Melissa Studdard is the author of Dear Selection Committee and I Ate the Cosmos for Breakfast. Her work has appeared in the Academy of American Poets’ Poem-a-Day series, and has been featured by and has appeared in periodicals such as POETRY, Kenyon Review, New England Review, PBS, NPR, The New York Times, and The Guardian.
Erika Wurth’s novel WHITE HORSE is forthcoming via Flatiron/Macmillan. She is both a Kenyon and Sewanee fellow, has published in The Kenyon Review, Buzzfeed, and The Writer’s Chronicle, and is a narrative artist for the Meow Wolf Denver installation. She is a professor of creative writing at Western Illinois University and faculty at the low-res MFA program at Regis University. She is an urban Native of Apache/Chickasaw/Cherokee descent.
All readings and artist talks are held in the Stanley Kunitz Common Room, unless otherwise noted. Our annual summer exhibition, Density’s Glitch, is on view through August 28, 2022 in our Hudson D. Walker Gallery. Both venues are located at 24 Pearl Street in Provincetown.
Gallery Hours: Monday – Thursday, 11 AM – 3 PM / Friday and Saturday, Noon – 5 PM
We require all students, faculty, staff, and guests to wear a mask when indoors at the Work Center.
The Stanley Kunitz Common Room and the Hudson D. Walker Gallery are accessible facilities in compliance with ADA guidelines.
