“There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion…”
—Francis Bacon, 1597

Brendan Constantine presents a generative workshop on the nature of Beauty, our personal relationships with it and its criteria as proposed by artists, philosophers, and other “beholders.” Sessions will include in-class writing, critique, games, and an examination of the criteria for Beauty across cultures and history. This workshop asks: is Beauty an opinion or an autonomous principle, a living ghost that leads or follows us? Come prepared to write and laugh and discover community.
