Join us for a Q&A with Susanna Sonnenberg about her upcoming offering Sharp Focus: an Advanced Memoir Workshop in 9 Months.

About the workshop: with a focus on producing pages and shaping the manuscript, you will begin in September 2026 to work towards a completed memoir by May 2027, when we will gather for an optional week-long intensive in person at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown.

FAWC staff will be present to answer questions about tiered pricing and the residency portion.

About the Instructor/Moderator

Susanna Sonnenberg is the author of two memoirs, Her Last Death and She Matters: A Life in Friendships. Her recent essay "Mirage" was a Notable selection in 2024's Best American Essays. The recipient of fellowships from MacDowell, Yaddo, and the Djarassi Foundation, among many others, she has taught widely and been on the Summer Faculty of FAWC since 2017. She lives in Missoula, Montana.

Their work is regularly exhibited internationally and is in the permanent collections of over 60 museums. Over the past fifteen years, they have built a sustainable career as a visual artist and have extensive experience working with museums, galleries, universities and nonprofit organizations, publishers, and press outlets. In addition to their own creative work, they are passionate about sharing the professional knowledge they’ve acquired throughout their career with other artists.
