Trash Art is a hands-on studio course that challenges students to reimagine found materials and discarded objects as rich sources of creative potential. Through sculpture, assemblage, collage, and installation, we’ll explore how trash can be transformed into visually compelling, conceptually layered artworks.
Critique and conversation will center on growth, not results, creating a supportive space to take risks and explore new directions. Ideal for artists looking to reinvigorate their practice, embrace experimentation, and discover unexpected connections across media.
We’ll emphasize play, process, and personal exploration—encouraging each student to push boundaries and develop their own unique creative voice.
Zehra Khan

She received an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown in 2007, and a BS from Skidmore College. Khan loves traveling to art residencies including Yaddo, the Studios of Key West, Ox-Bow, I-Park, the Vermont Studio Center, Art Space Sonahmoo in Korea, and Space A in Kathmandu. Khan lived year-round in Provincetown from 2007-2018, and now lives in Chicago.
