About the Offering

Writing love stories can feel fraught for many reasons. It can feel gendered, cliche, too personal, or not personal enough. It can feel driftless to write about “relationships” and fruitless to try to say something new about the world’s oldest topic. But through prompts, readings, and discussions, we will re-define what a love story is, and explore the best ways to make them feel dynamic and specific.

For this 4-week workshop, while you will be regularly responding to readings and doing shorter writing exercises, you will also have one full (10-15 page) short story workshopped. Please be prepared to submit the first 1-2 pages of that story at the start of the second week of workshop.
