Housing & Parking

Housing, both on-site at the Fine Arts Work Center and in Provincetown, fills up very quickly. To secure housing, please book as early as possible.

On-Site Housing

The Fine Arts Work Center has limited apartments available for students on a first-come, first-served basis. An apartment costs $1,100 for six nights, and payment-in-full is due at registration, based on availability. Information regarding on-site housing availability is provided at the time of registration.

All apartments have a full-sized bed, kitchen, private bath, and wireless internet. They do not, however, have a telephone, television, or air-conditioners. Fans are available as needed. Bedding, towels, and linens will be provided, but students should bring their own toiletries. Coin-operated laundry facilities will be available on select evenings for students staying on-site. Please bring quarters and detergent.

Check-in is on Sunday between 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm and check out is by noon on Saturday after your workshop ends. Please note that we cannot accommodate early arrivals, late departures, or requests for a particular apartment.

Please note that smoking is not allowed anywhere on our property, indoors or out. 

Off-Site Housing

They are holding rooms, providing  extra-generous discounts, and even donating housing for our scholarship students. The Captain’s House and the Chicago House B&B

The Captain’s House and the Chicago House are reasonably priced and centrally located guest houses. All rooms have A/C, linens, TV, and WiFi. They also offer a simple cold continental breakfast served from 8 AM to 9:30 AM. The Captain’s House has blocked four rooms for FAWC students and Chicago House has blocked three rooms for FAWC students. These rooms are expected to book quickly so if you’re interested, please call Peter Bullis at 617-359-3315 or email at chicagohouseptown@gmail.com. Additionally, Chicago House is donating a room for a scholarship student.

8 Dyer Hotel

The 8 Dyer Hotel is a modern guesthouse tucked away on a quiet side street of one of the world’s most scenic and lively destinations. The comfortable rooms are outfitted with king or queen beds that surround relaxing amenities like a pool, dry sauna, and indoor Jacuzzi. 8 Dyer is providing a week of housing for a scholarship student.

Ellery Hotel

With its tranquil garden and vibrant soft seating, the courtyard is the “relaxation center” of the hotel. Elegant sitting areas and quiet corners invite you to read, have good conversations or just listen to the sound of numerous water features. During the summer months guests can enjoy their coffee at the large outside table under the wisteria arbor or gather there for a cocktail in the afternoon. Ellery Hotel is offering a 20% discount for FAWC students. Additionally, Ellery Hotel is donating a room for a scholarship student.

Harbor Hotel

Situated by the beach, Harbor Hotel Provincetown is ideally located near the Cape Cod National Seashore, along Route 6A, in Provincetown’s East End. Downtown Provincetown and Commercial Street are about a mile and a half away, easy to get to by short shuttle ride or leisurely walk. Until March 1, FAWC students will receive a 15% discount at Harbor Hotel. After March 1, a 10% discount. Additionally, Harbor Hotel is donating a room for a scholarship student.

Howards End Guest House in Provincetown

Howards End is situated in the very heart of Provincetown, but far enough from the hustle and bustle to enjoy a good night’s rest, just steps away from the ferry, bus station and town beaches. Howards End’s intimate size makes it ideally suited for both couples and singles. Howards End is donating a room for a scholarship student.

John Randall House

In the center of Provincetown, just one block off lively Commercial Street, The John Randall House delivers a tranquil boutique experience in the heart of the most unique village on Cape Cod. A bed and breakfast that is also part private art gallery, this Victorian-style inn features contemporary works by local and national artists alongside stylish furnishings. John Randall House offers a 20% discount for bookings in June (Week 1 of the Summer Workshop Program) with code JRH2026. Additionally, John Randall House is donating a room for a scholarship student.

Provincetown Inn

 

Escape to Provincetown Inn, a rustic and cozy retreat nestled along the pristine beaches of Cape Cod. The historic property offers a relaxing and inviting atmosphere, perfect for families, LGBTQ+ guests, and millennials alike. Immerse yourself in the quaint, yet spacious surroundings, where every corner exudes charm and history. Until March 1, FAWC students will receive a 15% discount at Provincetown Inn. After March 1, a 10% discount. Additionally, Provincetown Inn is donating a room for a scholarship student.

 

Somerset House Inn

Somerset House Inn is a historic woman-owned guesthouse built in 1840 and has been operating as an inn since the 1970s. Somerset is centrally located in the heart of Provincetown, facing the beautiful Provincetown Harbor. It is encompassed by art galleries, restaurants, and specialty shops, and offers guests amazing views of Cape Cod Bay. FAWC students will receive 15% off their stay by entering code FAWC15 upon booking the reservation. Additionally, Somerset House Inn is donating a room for a scholarship student.

Surfside Hotel & Suites

Nestled along beautiful Cape Cod Bay, Surfside Hotel & Suites offers sweeping bay sightlines and proximity to the best of Provincetown’s activities. Relax and soak up the atmosphere of this charming beachside getaway. Lounge by the pool or pristine private beach. Until March 1, FAWC students will receive a 15% discount at Surfside Hotel & Suites. After March 1, a 10% discount. Additionally, Surfside Hotel & Suites is donating a room for a scholarship students.

Angel’s Landing

Angel’s Landing is a group of individual condominiums located on the bay, in the center of Provincetown, Massachusetts, yet removed from the noise and activity of Commercial Street. Angel’s Landing has a condo available to FAWC students for eight weeks of the summer. Please contact Alexis Wright, Education Programs Manager, at awright@fawc.org to inquire about availability.

A number of individual supporters of the Fine Arts Works Center offer reasonably-priced accommodations to summer workshop students. Rentals range from individual rooms in a private home to fully furnished apartments and houses. Parking

We have limited on-site parking at the Work Center, which is reserved for faculty and students who are staying on site, and who have requested and received a parking spot. Parking for students staying on site is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. All other students must secure off-site parking. Please note that parking in Provincetown in the summer is challenging. For comprehensive information on parking in Provincetown, please visit the Provincetown Parking site.

If you have a handicapped parking placard or mobility issues and are not staying onsite, please contact Alexis Wright, Education Programs Manager, at awright@fawc.org about obtaining a parking space on-site. 

There are several municipal parking lots nearby to FAWC.

We recommend parking at these nearby lots, which will likely have space if you arrive before 9:00 am.

  • 14 Johnson St (across from FarLand Provisions)
  • 363 Commercial St (next to 361 Coffee & Espresso Bar)
  • 401 Commercial St (next to Treadwell Gallery)

If those are full, Provincetown Public Parking (next to CVS) has a very large lot.
