Pillar 4: Place – Provincetown and Outer Cape Cod

Goal

To preserve the artistic vitality of our community and work to protect access to the natural environment of Provincetown and Outer Cape Cod for future generations of emerging artists and writers.

Objectives

4.1  Protect the cultural identity of Provincetown by helping to make it possible for artists and writers to live and work on Cape Cod. Collaborate across various sectors with the goal of providing artist live-work spaces and creative employment

4.2  Embrace our potential to serve as a creative center for Outer Cape Cod, through visionary public programming that acknowledges and promotes the central role artists play in society

4.3  Enliven public spaces as sites for innovation, community engagement, and creative exchange—onsite and through offsite collaborations

4.4  Showcase our legacy in Provincetown through a digital archive project

4.5  Establish the Work Center as an essential and active member of the Outer Cape community

4.6  Promote the year-round cultural life of Provincetown by partnering with arts organizations, local food partners, galleries, small businesses, and local government

Our Mission

The Fine Arts Work Center is an artist-led organization based in Provincetown and connected to the world. We support artistic freedom, nurture creative connections, and make possible artistic achievements important to the larger culture.
